5 Times You Need a Lawyer

January 4, 2020 by Rachel Leave a Comment

Often life throws you obstacles that can be handled with a little Google search and common sense. However, there are some situations in life that call for legal advice and/or defense.

It’s a good idea to know what kind of situations call for hiring a lawyer and ones that don’t. Here are some of the situations when you should call a lawyer as soon as possible.

Lawsuits

If you are looking to take someone to court else as a result of their negligence, then you should have a good negotiator behind you who can fight for what you deserve.

The idea is to be compensated for your suffering and financial damages. A good lawyer will get you money that you have a right to.

A Divorce

When you and your spouse decide that you’re ready to call it quits, then you should consult with a lawyer. Even in amicable divorces, experts recommend talking to a legal professional.

They’ll be able to walk you through how the process of divorce works and how you can protect your assets. If you have children together, it’s especially important that you have a lawyer behind you. You want to be able to see your children as often as possible, and only a lawyer knows the best way to do that.

A DUI

Getting charged for drinking and driving can lead to serious issues down the road if you don’t handle it the right way. A good lawyer can usually reduce your charges or get them dropped altogether. You should never go to court for a DUI charge without a lawyer representing you. Otherwise, you’ll face having to deal with maximum charges and penalties.

Drug Charges

If you’ve been charged for drug possession, then you will have a much better chance of dropping your charges by hiring a lawyer over using a public defender. A public defender generally is overloaded with many cases and will often settle for a plea bargain over fighting the same as a private attorney will.

You’re better off asking family or friends to borrow the money for a lawyer and paying them back over time. Otherwise, you could find yourself with serious jail time.

Car Accidents

If you’ve been in a car accident and have been injured as a result, then you should talk to a lawyer. They’ll be able to guide you through the laws and compensation rates that you may be eligible for. Don’t take the chance of being left with tends of thousands in medical bills that someone else should be paying. A lawyer will fight for what’s rightfully yours!

Remember, not all lawyers are created equally. You’ll need to hire one that has experience on your specific kind of case to ensure your outcome is favorable.
